The Tithe Litany
Leader: I tithe because it is a direct command from God. Malachi 3:10a
People: I tithe because God blesses the tithe. Malachi 3:10b
Leader: I tithe because God commands His people to do so. Deuteronomy 8:1
People: I tithe because I want to be an obedient disciple of Christ. Romans 6:16
Leader: I tithe because it is an evidence of commitment. II Chronicles 31:4-5
People: They also brought in the tithes... Which were consecrated unto the Lord their God, and laid them by heaps. II Chronicles 31:6
Leader: I tithe because tithing makes me conscious of my partnership with God. Deuteronomy 8:6-9
People: God furnishes the natural resources and even creates the intelligence and energy within me, by which natural resources become wealth. Deuteronomy 8:6-9
Leader: I tithe because God promises a curse upon those who rob Him by refusing to tithe. Malachi 3:9
People: God is a good collector. If I refuse to pay the tithe voluntarily, I must involuntarily give it up in one way or another. Deuteronomy 31:16-21
Leader: I tithe because I believe in prayer and I stand in need of God’s help every day, for which I must pray. Matthew 6:7-13
People: But if I disobey God and rob Him by refusing to tithe, or begin to try, I am living in disobedience. Proverbs 28:9
